… who disappear for months then only post to say “sorry, I’ll be back soon”…

But.

It’s that time of year again – and I have no doubt the writing therapy will be needed. This morning I was reading a blog, and was suddenly drowned in a wave of sadness. And jealousy.

It was a simple thing – a couple of posts with pictures of the blogger with her Mum and Dad, being normal and doing family stuff over Christmas. Giggling and being silly and comfortable and warm and NORMAL.

This year I refuse to get lost in it. I will NOT. Willnotwillnotwillnotwillnot.

But I will catch up on the last 6 months. Honest…

Take one field.
Full of large round Straw bales.

The REALLY BIG kind.

Add four children, two *cough* grown ups, one dog and a dose of Autumn sunshine.

Hey Presto – mix it up and you get Four Hours of Silly.

And then we *might* have decided that enough wasn’t quite enough, and that maybe a little stop at the park on the way home was in order…

It *might* have been at ths point that things got a little out of hand, and C decided to jump onto the weird spinny-pole thing to see how it went.

And got stuck.

Spinning faster and faster whilst I laughed till I physically hurt.

Then he fell off and stayed on all fours, moaning, hands gripping the earth to stop it tipping.

At which point I may have been unable to breathe as the tears poured down my cheeks.

I may actually have made myself sick with laughing so hard.

*might* have happened. Not saying it did mind…

Walking in the woods

Yet another glooooorious autumn day, so we did what every other self-respecting family did and took ourselves out into it.

Perfect, perfect day...

walking in the magic woods, searching for elves.

Jolly found a real actual magic wand

there was magic everywhere we looked

And this is a rather smug-looking Bad Bad Dog. She chased a deer, got lost and couldn't find us for ten minutes. By the time she got back she couldn't walk on her bad leg - she had to lie down for ten minutes before we could get her to hobble back to the car. Idiot dog.

Making the most of the fabulous end-of-summer summer we’re experiencing, we took the children up to Win Green for some early (which ended up late) evening French Cricket.
It was quite simply one of those magical times that we managed to stop and breathe deeply and see for what it is, right inside the moment.
Excuse the self-indulgence- these pictures are for me and mine, just to remember.

I did it.

I really did.

I have blisters under my feet (*must wear socks in future*), I have scared a fisherman (*must not sing loudly and tunelessly to backing music when approaching riverbank at sunset*), I have worried the dog (she’s getting the hang of the stop-start run bursts now, but was very concerned about them to start with).

I still, however, finish each session scarlet, sweating and unable to speak.

It’s still HARD. Though not as hard as the first one.

Do I move on to week 2, or re-do week one til it gets easier?

Onwards. Always moving onwards. That’s the spirit.

Think I’ll go have a lie down now…

On the upside, there may be totally necessary shoe shopping ahead…
